You were probably flailing about during your nightmare, but it is also "possible" that the dream was so real that the bruise came up on it's own. The mind is remarkably powerful and people have been known to "cause" physical marks to appear on their body... especially under hypnosis.
But really, you probably just bruised yourself while asleep.
You may have done it yourself in fighting him off. It doesn't mean anything, who knows what we all do when having a nightmare.
Maybe you hit/ grabbed yourself in your sleep? Or possibly someone came in and shook you to wake you up and you didn't notice because it fitted in with your dream?
You could well have grabbed your own arm in your sleep.
