About an hour later everyone was sent home. I watched TV news getting progressively more depressed, and finally on Saturday went out for a walk. When I got back the talking heads were babbling about "the accused shooter Ruby", and at first I thought that meant Oswald had been misidentified as the killer.
I went through a period when I suspected Johnson might have been behind it. Now I figure maybe the CIA or FBI.
I was in 8th grade in Mr. Campbell's room. Incidentally, he talked just like that teacher in South Park. The Principal came in and announced that the president had been assassinated, and they let us out of school early. Some of the girls were crying and saying now we were going to have a nuclear war and everybody is going to be turned into monkeys. I remember that clearly, and as thinking "oh brother". I was trying to picture the head crier covered in fur.....I believed Oswald killed Kennedy. Actually, he was trained U.S. marine and the shot wasn't that hard. I believe Oswald wanted to impress the soviets, but they already regarded him as a nut. The nightclub owner, Jack Ruby, shot Oswald because Kennedy was a very popular president at that time. I remember my grandmother had a picture of Kennedy hanging on one wall and a picture of the pope on the other wall, facing each other. Before, everyone was scared of the Russians. The Cuban missile crisis came, and everyone thought this was it. People were building radiation shelters. The government told everyone that two weeks after a nuclear attack the air should be safe to breathe, but that was nonsense. The Russians backed down, because they thought Kennedy was crazy. So, nobody was scared of the russians anymore. Ruby just got overwhelmed with emotion. There was no conspiracy. My beliefs haven't changed since that time. A screwball shot the president and another screwball shot the screwball that shot the president, The whole thing is as simple as that.
Yes I recall all the I35 tragedies from Waco, Dallas Oklahoma city.
1) Wasn't born yet.
2) Wasn't born yet so had no thoughts.
3) I think Oswald killed Kennedy.
I would ask my parents but it would do no good as they were not born yet either.
I was at work in a computer center...when we heard the news...
It left most of us numb and speechless...
I accept and believe the history as it evolved...
He had a lincoln continental. I know bccause I had a 'Matchbox' die-cast model of it.
For my history class, we have to write a paper on the John F. Kennedy assassination. For the paper, we have to interview at least three people who remember the assassination. My grandmother is the only person I've been able to interview since she is my only living grandparent. If you or a close friend or family member of yours remembers it, I have three questions that need answering, if you don't mind:
1. What all do you remember from that day?
2. Who do you think killed Kennedy at the time, and what do you think happened?
3. Today, has your belief changed? Why?
Thank you for your help, I greatly appreciate it!
