Is AID's a natural disaster?

I think it all depends on what you mean by a natural disaster. From what I have read, aids is reputed to have originated in monkeys and passed to humans. How it started in monkeys is not known. How it was passed to humans is a little sketchy too, but is more than likely the result of a bite from an infected animal. Probably as a result of the bush meat trade, or the capture and smuggling of animals for the pet trade.

"Natural disaster" usually refers to something a lot faster-moving--an earthquake, a tidal wave, a volcanic eruption. Something where mother nature flexes her muscles. AIDS is a disease and therefore more of a plague than a natural disaster. And in death toll, I'm sure it can't compare to the plagues of the olden days. AIDS is pretty much contained now, anyway. I have a friend of a friend who's lived with it for something approaching 30 years.

It may be a blessing. Scientists have altered the aids virus to make it attack cancer cells. The news showed a young girl that was cured of lukemia.

Its always been a very puzzling disease, almost unnatural. Its not a disease in its self.It acts on the body's own defences against disease. This is not logical. I have always believed it to be a spore that came off the moon rocks.A disease truly out of this world?

I heard it started in Chad and spent years spreading very slowly. Maybe it increased in infectivity at some point.

If you think having it off with monkeys is natural, then yes....I personally do not.
