Everyone should be prepaid. If you have a pitcher or two you could fill with water and set aside then you could do that. If you already have some canned goods and other food that doesn't need to be refrigerated then you should be ok, depending on how much you have to go on.
Tornadoes... well unfortunately with those buggers we won't know that until the people studying it notice there could be one or clouds in an area show those signs. Hurricanes *can* produce tornadoes. If you remember with Irene last year some areas got them. But some hurricanes don't produce very many. It just depends on how this one goes. Maybe just keep an eye on the weather reports on tv during it if you have power for a while. If you have a radio that doesn't need to be plugged in you could keep it on a channel that's broadcasting weather updates and any warnings.
I'm just a bit south in Delaware, so we will probably get about the same. (And prob the same news channels telling us about it even. lol) Good luck and stay safe.
If the eye of it passes over your/our areas and it is calm for a little bit, maybe we'll get to run out and see if we can see the stars through it.
P.S. This is a good list for both of us, lists storm shelters in this area you can go to if you needed to leave your home during the storm.

No tornados. I live in Rahway, NJ. It supposed to be ridiculously bad though. Don't listen to people who just say it's hype. It supposed be the Storm of the Century. The storm surges are going to absolutely obliterate the NJ coastline. You will be better off in Camden than the coastline. But if you live by any flood zones, you're screwed.
The media is scaring people,Only thing is have some water If your really scared its all you really need for survival,we can go 4 weeks without food so I think your good. The media is scaring people and making corporations millions dollars in profit
First things first, keep calm. The media is overreacting, Sandy isn't going to level our seaboard with nuclear weapons, it'll bring rain and wind with possible flooding. Just keep stocked on water bottles and food, keep a battery powered radio, and enjoy your evening.
So I live in Camden, New Jersey and I am NOT prepared with this hurricane. My Dad didn't prepare because he thinks it will not be bad. Will it be bad and should I be prepared? Also, will it affect Halloween? Oh, last question and were there any tornado reports or could there be one? Thanks :)
