How can anyone think Oscar Pistorius is innocent?

Lobectomy is the way to go.

I'm not as cruel as those who are meowing "I believe he's innocent, because he's a great athlete and has done so much for charities, and/or he's an amputee" to wish that an innocent man, confirmed problems with anger management, shoots at someone they love through a locked bathroom door FOUR times, carries the body downstairs, then calls NOT the police but his brother and his LAWYER.

Sadly with the fame and money he has, he shall get a bail, he shall then either flee or be acquitted in the end. You don't need to be seer to tell that.

Your wrong, there was no bloody cricket bat. Try actually reading and following the live court proceedings. The bat was used to break down the toilet door after he realized it was reeva in there and that he needed to get in. There was no domestic disturbance earlier in the evening. There was on a different date.. that night a neighbour who lives 600 METRES from Oscars home believed she heard fighting coming from the home. 600 metres is a LONG way away to hear anything. Dont jump to conclusions because you clearly dont have the facts. Oscar is in shock, he is crying uncontrollably and shaking and has been since it happened. Does this seem like a man who wanted his girlfriend dead? No, this was an accident and it will be proven as just that in court. He is a double amputee who has done so much for charities and was about to launch a new charity in May. He is kind, generous and a good man. No one is perfect and this tragedy has ruined his life and that wont change even after his release. I feel very sad for Reevas family and its not fair that her life was taken. A punishment of some kind is only fair, however this man does not deserve to go to prison for a tragic accident. The mental effects from going through something like this is punishment enough!

The level of stupidity of so many people in the world is phenomenal. I think it's pretty clear that he's more or less telling the truth. What I'm not clear on is what was driving his mental state at the time - i.e. drink / drugs etc. Also his obsession with guns as concerning - although maybe explicable given his position as an extremely high profile disabled person living in a violent country, who would doubtless have received death threats in the past

But seriously, why would he knowingly kill a girlfriend like that who he was considering marrying - plus why ruin his entire life and career at the same time

What I'm not clear on is whether it's legal to shoot dead an intruder in South Africa - what would the penalty have been in that case

I agree

The poor young girl so young and Beautiful has lost her life ,its tragic her family are understandably devastated yet the media seem to be favoring him too

if he gets a dammed good lawyer which he and his family can easily afford there is a good chance he will get away with this despite the evidence against him

I've spent a great deal of time in South Africa before and am aware how my friends live in fear and paranoia due to the ongoing brutal robberies and murders of their friends and relatives. [I would add at this point that unless one has lived in S.A. – and truly loves the country and its people – one cannot criticize, grasp or understand their circumstances.]

To come to the point, contrary to majority/popular opinion, I believe he is innocent and that he didn't mean to kill her either. We must remain acutely aware that information is often subjective in nature and gets twisted in the telling and retelling. Most are only interested in seeking juicy bits of ‘incriminating’ information and have a tendency to jump on the mob-mentality “crucify him” bandwagon. We are like a jeering crowd ready to pronounce judgment or like voracious piranhas wanting to devour its prey...

I ask: what if we were innocent despite any 'condemning' evidence pointed towards us – would we like to be treated the way the whole world is condemning and treating him right now?

Misguided sympathy He is a sports hero and an inspiration to all disabled people Sadly he is a mere mortal man and a murderer

It is for a South African court to decide. There could be many explanations leading to his guilt or against it.The public does not know all the facts

I don't know the details but I certainly hope that if he is guilty of murder they don't find him guilty of a lesser charge like manslaughter or even acquitted by reason of self defense because of his celebrity like they did OJ.

What is important in this case is not about the fact that he knew that Riva was in or not. He heard noise, took his gun and then walk or crawl on the floor in the intention to kill. That is a premeditated murder.

I know people who witnessed his temper at the Olympics last year, he totally lost it a couple of times.

I don't like to jump to conclusions, but come on. He shot her FOUR times and a bloody cricket bat was found on the scene. Not to mention that there was a report of a domestic disturbance earlier in the evening.

Tragic, yes but not an accident

i heard he was chasing a mouse around the apartment

He couldn't be more guilty in reality

Were you there? Everyone is presumed innocent until proved guilty.
