The Mayan calendar didn't take leap years into account, since they weren't invented until more recently. So the supposed date of apocalypse already passed a long time ago.
I'm not sure how old you are, but stuff like this has happened CONSTANTLY in the past. The world has been supposed to end countless times, people freak out or kill themselves, and then nothing happens.
And let's say the world WAS going to end (its not)- there's nothing whatsoever you can do to stop it, or prepare, or change the outcome in any way. If you had some kind of disease that was going to kill you in a week, you would use the time to enjoy life, not worry and waste away your last moments.
But like I said earlier, the world won't be ending, just like it hasn't ended on any of the previous "Doomsdays".
They are hardly going to tell you its true! There would be world wide riots.! All we can do is wait until the day and if it happens it happens. There is no-one on here that knows any more than you do.I will be pleased when its over.
The world is not going to end on December 21st. According to the bible, it states that no one knows the day or the hour, only God knows.

(2 Peter 3:10-14) The day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything in it will be laid bare.
Since everything will be destroyed in this way, what kind of people ought you to be? You ought to live holy and godly lives as you look forward to the day of God and speed its coming. That day will bring about the destruction of the heavens by fire, and the elements will melt in the heat. But in keeping with his promise we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, the home of righteousness.
So then, dear friends, since you are looking forward to this, make every effort to be found spotless, blameless and at peace with him.

Please seek God today. John 3:16 says: For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, so that whosoever BELIEVES in HIM, should not perish but have EVERLASTING LIFE. We are cleansed/purified solely by believing that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, who died for our sins, and who was resurrected on the third day by the power of God. You do not need to be “dip, dunk, or immerse” to be baptized since that will be considered works. Read Hebrews 8. Many believers think that going to a (worldly) Priest/Pastors will save them. No it doesn't. According to verse Hebrews 8 and according to the New Covenant, we are only permitted to confess our sins to God the Father in Jesus name. God permitted Jesus our (Lord) to be our High Priest. We are not to confess our sins to (worldly) Priests since Priests of this generation are not permitted by God to wash away people's sins. No one shouldn't be asking the Priest for forgiveness of sins. They are not the ones that people have sinned against, It's God the Father that they've sinned against. Repent to God the Father only and you will receive the baptism for repentance.
This is how baptism works: All you need to do is believe, repent, and obey. It's that easy.
The first step is to believe in the one that God has sent which is Jesus Christ (John 6:29).
The second step is to be cleansed by the baptism of repentance, and than the third step is to be baptized by the power of the Holy Spirit (Acts 1:5, Matthew 3:11, Acts 11:15-16, Acts 19:1-7).

It is a hoax. No the world will not end on December 21, 2012 or so.
The the Mayan calendar does not really predicted the end of the world in 2012 on December 21. It is only indicated as being the end of a 13th major cycle and there are other dates mentioned beyond it. The notion of a "Great Cycle" coming to an end is completely a modern invention.
However we do seem to be in the end times period of history in this year of 2012. For example, Jesus predicted for the end times seem to be on the increase now such as false Christs, wars and rumors of wars, famines, earthquakes. (See Matthew Chapter 24) We are seeing more and more of these things and also unusual weather. Astronomers also predict possible huge solar storms out of the sun in 2013, which could disrupt satellites.
According to those who have studied Bible prophecy, we will experience a 7 year period called the Great Tribulation (before the 2nd coming of Christ) in which "the beast" or anti-Christ will rise up to rule the world. This world leader will bring in a cashless system in which no one can buy or sell without a mark on the right hand or forehead. This will most likely be a microchip implant with all financial information.
“It also forced all people, great and small, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hands or on their foreheads, so that they could not buy or sell unless they had the mark, which is the name of the beast or the number of its name. There is now a big push towards one world government and the microchip implant technology. Politicians talk more about the need for global governance and a new world order. Microchips are now being used on around 8 million pets in the USA and are now being used on humans for medical ID and security. More systems are being set up to discourage and stop the use of cash.
When the microchip cashless system is fully put into place, do not receive the mark! All who get it will be condemned forever.

Gerald Celente of the Trends Institute says that in 2012 we will likely have an “economic 9/11”. This could be accompanied by war with Iran and/or collapse of the US dollar. There could be shortages of food and starvation in the USA.
While 2012 will not be the end of the world, we may see economic chaos and a march toward one world oppressive government. So we should prepare ourselves practically and also spiritually. Be ready to oppose this mark of the beast.
We have all broken Gods laws such as stealing, lying, pride, hatred, selfish ambition, and so on. We are all are guilty before God. Jesus paid the penalty for all our wrongdoings on the cross. People can receive forgiveness and eternal life only though receiving him as Lord and Savior. Those who do never have to fear death or the end of the world.

I am extremely paranoid about it being the end of the world on Friday. Now I know a lot of people don't believe it in and joke around about it but I honestly can't help but to feel slightly scared--especially with everything I have been hearing on the tv. Apparently this all sprung off of the Mayan calender ending but I've been hearing a lot more things than just that, like Nostradamus, etc. Now NASA has it up on their site saying it's a hoax, and the government apparently confirmed nothing was going to happen but does anyone think that they're just lieing to us? Because if they actually informed us that they knew something was going to happen that it would cause panic amongst everyone? Maybe I just need to stop thinking negatively but I can't stop thinking about it and getting worked up to the point of having chest pains and my stomach is hurting. I just want people's honest, -serious- opinions here, please?
