Does Anyone Else Think James Holmes was Taking an SSRI?

I've been reading about all of the horrible things meds or drugs can do to you. If he was on an SSRI it has been shown many times that it can cause homicidal or suicidal actions. The public needs to know.

I think SSRI's have been the most highly prescribed drugs for 20 years and that tens or hundreds of millions of users haven't done this. Even if they're over-prescribed.

On my college campus, student health doesn't prescribe these the way you describe. The two students whose stories I know, one got wellbutrin for severe depression and got all better, the other got nothing and had to go off-campus to a real doctor for an SSRI that helped her.

I think it's an awful lot more likely he wasn't taking his meds.

That guy is a natural born sociopath who thought it might be fun to go on a murder rampage.

Interesting theory, buy you cant blame prozac for him going mental and killing people, the guy wasn't right and society has failed him and the people that were killed.

And you got all this information how?

Based on the timeline of James Homes going insane, I believe he was put on an SSRI about six mos. to a year ago and became delusional. So – called “experts” will stand behind their theories and drugs and I doubt the public will ever know the truth of medications that may have caused this. If he actually had schizophrenia or this was brought on by Vicodin, he would never have been able to focus as he did for so many mos. SSRI’ s can produce mania and delusions, especially when combined with Dopamine enhancing substances like alcohol or Vicodin on a regular basis. You don’t have to be under the influence of the latter to continue to operate under the delusion, it can be with you when sober and only under the influence of the SSRI. I also believe that his delusion involved something that he felt he had in common with Heath Ledger or that Heath Ledger was important b/c he stood for something b/c Holmes made it a point of stating that he took Vicodin, just like Ledger, although there is no solid proof of this. I believe his dazed behavior in court is not the result of faking or psychosis, but when he sobered up off these meds (it takes about 2.5 days for SSRI’s to completely vacate the body b/c of the lengthy half life ) he realized that his actions were horrific and not what he assumed they were under his delusional state. College campuses are notorious for medicating kids with SSRI’s on maybe the first visit to a counselor – I have heard parents complain about it before. I would also bet that the family’s silence stems from some feelings of guilt b/c his mother was a nurse and Holmes was probably medicated with ADHD and other meds from a young age, before he could fully make that choice for himself. Meds like ADHD meds have shown to cause a propensity towards addiction to other drugs later in life. I would hope that the courts and family would wish to avert other tragedies like this and allow the public to know what really caused this, but I doubt that will happen. What do others think?
