Shawn Robin. The trial has nothing to do anymore with the "stand your ground" law. The defence waived this hearing altogether and requested trial by jury under the merits of the evidence invovled. "Stand your ground " was waived. Evidence, circumstance and intention are what the issue are. There is no issue anymore, at all, with "stand your ground". All that is needed here is reasonable doubt for Zimmerman to walk. For the prosecution to prove beyond reasonable doubt they're going to need a miracle. No witnesses. Not guilty. Btw, a bad deal all around this whole tradgity.
Judging by what I have heard. Common sense would say yes. Zimmerman story just don't add up. Secondly, its hard to really claim you were defending yourself when you stalk a person nearly two blocks. Especially when your told by the police to not follow the person.
Also if Zimmerman was pulled from his vehicle and attacked. How come the shooting happened two blocks from his parked truck in somebody back yard?
Well I'm white. Just so you know. But I think he's guilty of manslaughter. He was told not to follow Martin. He is a 'wanna be' cop who let power take over.
I don't like the "cracker" comment - if he did in fact say it. It's as bad as the "n" word in my opinion. That's the double standard in today's world. His gf on the stand said she didn't think "cracker" was racist but it is....you know it and I know it. It's just as bad as "n".
But he's guilty and deserves to go to prison.
I agree with milkweed. Trayvon was looking for trouble, if Zimmerman did not had his gun. Trayvon would had killed him. But it is up to the jurors, it might be a tough decision. But in my opinion, Zimmerman should be free, because it is self defense. Because the media is saying that Trayvon had bad school records, he was always getting in trouble in school.
The Republican politicians responsible for Florida's self defence law said it doesn't protect him.
"Dennis Baxley, a Republican state representative and co-author of the 2005 self-defense law, said Zimmerman negated his ability to claim immunity under the law by chasing Martin. Former Republican State Sen. Durell Peadon, another co-author of the law, said Zimmerman "has no protection under my law."

“This law does not apply to this particular circumstance. Stand your ground means stand your ground. It doesn’t mean chase after somebody who’s turned their back.”

Since that law doesn't excuse what he did, he can't be found innocent.
So this trial is really just a matter of determining what his punishment will be.
Did George Zimmerman shoot and kill Treyvon Martin? Yes, he did. Now, was it first degree murder? Second degree murder? Voluntary manslaughter? Involuntary manslaughter? Or, was it justifiable homicide? THAT is what the jury must decide.
in my view, martin was a bad kid looking for trouble...............
these black kids need to stay out of trouble and stay close to home. There have been a lot of reports of black guys robbing and beating others because they cant get a job........so,.....we need more Zimmermans koced and loaded.......as the Obama care comes into play.............there will be a lot more blacks looking for a weak subject to rob......
I have 5 dogs, .......if they get by them..........................They had better have a good reason for being over my threshold.......
jean
Yes, he was playing vigilante.

I think he's guilty in my opinion
