Yes...to a degree. I was a kid and I walked into the neighborhood penny-candy store (oh, I loved those shops) and there was a newspaper with the front-page headline about it. The adults were talking about it. I thought it was terrible that someone would be murdered just because of being a singer. Being a kid, I didn't really get that people are killed too often, for even lesser reasons, but as a 9 or 10 year old kid, that's what I remember thinking.
