The guy you need to check up on is not David Steele but Charles Kennedy who was a close pal of Cyril Smith and probably knew about the paedo thing and may even have been party to it too.

You know what? Why not just give the Lib/Dems their marching orders at the next general election in May 2015 and kick them all right out of parliament forever.

But then that would not be the end of it would it? We all know, or at least suspect, that there is something very rotten at the core of the Westminster Village - a paedo haven by all accounts and one which sees itself as untouchable.
The real answer is going to have to come from the people and that means a constant demand for something positive to be done - not a few token heads on the block but the entire nest of evil which lurks there - murdering little children for their pleasure.

Lets just suppose for a moment he is innocent. Before anyone accuses me of "supporting peodos again" I arent. I am saying he may not be guilty. He is dead,so utterly nothing can be done now. In this latest attempt to damage the Conservative party,almost all of those accused are dead. Even more interesting a Labour Speaker has also been accused (quite wrongfully) yet the newspapers have never mentioned him.
I am not sure what David Steele could have done ? He was a fairly weak figure anyway.
I can well remember "rent boys" in the 60s 70s and 80s. Young teenage male prostitutes who charged the rich for their services. I think they are being mistaken for children ?
Steel was told about the obese Smith's nefarious sexual practices with young boys but refused to investigate them. Now that this sexual abuse of young children in care and the procurance of children at parties has been exposed a lot of people are trying to cover their tracks and what they did years ago.
Steel should be made to reveal what he knew and why he did nothing about it.
People could have had morals and walked away after doing what they could, or bury it. It would seem that many people were "told" to keep quiet.
That is something Mr Steel has to live with IF he knew about it.
For some reason, and I'm not entirely sure of the scope or nature of this, attitudes towards the subject where somehow different at that time. I'm not saying it was allowed or tolerated, but there seems to have been some different perception.
Yes, he was warned well in advance and dismissed the claims without investigating, now, shamefully he is trying to cover up for his inaction...

read Danczuks book "Smile for the Camera" for everything about Smith, about the reports against him from social workers and victims, health workers and his fellow MP's, about how he was arrested then let off, about how the Special Branch removed files on him from four police forces and ordered them not to investigate...
The late Cyril Smith was\is an MP who molested children. Private Eye is currently fighting a campaign arguing David Steel was irresponsible by not challenging Cyril Smith about it more at the time, David Steel is denying this and so things go on.
I know Private Eye can be unreliable but they can also be quite good, Paul Foot for example was brilliant.
