London calling: That's not fair. All police forces do all they can. I doubt if any force can cover a marathon 100%. The lessons we learned from IRA bombs did not stop 7/7 or others. So aim your attacks at the scum who plant bombs - not the services who pick up the limbs.
I think every country tries to make their residents safe but unfortunately these terrorists are determined one way or another to make this happen. It is not the lack of security or trained police because if you see the footage the people who were helping were the police themselves and they were willing to go towards the danger than running from it. Also your marathon is next week lets hope you are right and nothing happens there either.
Well if you think you can do better go and do it. Policing large crowds is very difficult in any country. As shown in Boston, all it takes is someone to drop a device in a bin and walk away. You can't realistically police against that. Frankly ignorance like yours by the public won't help UK security, don't be so quick to judge.
I suppose we're lucky that those that rushed to the aid of the injured weren't engaged as they were in the Bradly Manning 'collateral damage' video, that's evil.
what about all the bombs they failed to stop, such as 7/7, the 1996 Manchester bomb, various London bombs, Warrington bombs - etc

the bombers would have never been able to successfully plant this bomb in UK because our police force are the best in the world for spotting suspicious activities, UK police have their eyes peeled all the time and would have caught them straight away before planting the bomb
