Why fracking is fracking stupid and will?

destabilise the ground we walk on.

how can you fracture rock and pump gas out and keep the ground stable?

they had minor earth tremors in Blackpool has a result of this fracking.

Well, it is happening a long way from Westminster and a lot of M.P.s constituencies !

guiri has hit the nail on the head. I wondered how long it would take for someone to suss this fracking thing out. They are indeed preparing for loss of oil revenue if Scotland votes for Independence. The same as they are quietly making changes at Devonport to accommodate the nuclear subs - they won't admit this though. Funny how not so long ago the MPs were saying there was nowhere suitable in England to berth the subs. To answer your question it will certainly cause some ground instability somewhat like mining has caused subsidence not to mention contamination. There's loads of gas down there. The gasiest pit in Scotland used to be Cardowan Colliery and they used to pump the Methane gas up to the surface and piped to the local gasworks. Whether fracking is stupid or not there is an absolute fortune below ground and money talks.

Geothermal energy production also causes minor earth quakes. Up to a 3 on the rector scale but don't you think using terms like "destabilizing the ground" is a bit over board?

So you have an electric cooker and electric heating then?

They are just preparing for Scottish independence after all..

YA have CENSORED my question on fracking.

Tony Ingraffea (Professor of Rock Fracture Mechanics at Cornell University) notes,

‘Fracking has always been UNPREDICTABLE,

always will be’.

"Shortly after operations began, we started to experience extreme headaches, runny noses, sore/scratchy throats, muscle aches and a constant feeling of fatigue. Both of our children are experiencing nose bleeds and I’ve had dizziness, vomiting and vertigo to the point that I couldn’t stand and was taken to an emergency room."

When she finally persuaded state officials to test the air around her house, they found the following toxic chemicals―benzene, styrene, toluene, xylene, hexane, heptane, acetone, acrolein, propene, carbon tetrachloride and chloromethane.

A Cuadrilla report into the Lancashire earthquakes of summer 2011 show fracking fluid disrupted a PREVIOUSLY UNKNOWN fault.

This fault then CAUSED the earthquakes.
