Why all the destructive things have girly names?

Like Hurricanes Ike and Andrew?

In the Atlantic, major storms (which can grow into hurricanes, not typhoons, those are in the Pacific, and cyclones are in the Indian Ocean) are named starting at the beginning of the alphabet and usually alternating between male and female names.

If you check the names on the list of the most destructive hurricanes in the sources below, you'll see that roughly half are male and roughly half are female.

Storms are named after males or females. For example, Hurricane Andrew. There is a six year list of names, and the names are used over again. If there is a particularly horrible storm, that name is retired. So the next time the list of names that had Katrina on it comes around again, there will be another name beginning with K, and it can be either gender.

Every year the disasters are named starting with the letter a to z (and Greek letters if needed) the gender of the name alternates every letter. so if A were male, B would be female, C would be male, and so on.

something that i have questioned as well!

Yes and have you noticed how a lot of illnesses and diseases have nice feminine sounding names.

Scarletina, Rubella, Dementia etc.

If they didn't you would have feminists jumping up and down screaming sexism!
