He was jealous and didn't want to lose control of his X and the money she would be taking from his very fat bank account. This was his motive.
This case did indirectly lead to the robbery as he was sued for millions in a wrongful death suit and he wasn't able to live high on the hog as he'd become accustomed and he wanted more money.
Although the evidence was overwhelmingly against OJ Simson, he was found innocent because the evidence of a prejudiced and possibly corrupt police department was more overwhelmingly convincing. It had nothing to do with the robbery case except it may have enboldened O.J. to think he could get away with robbery since he got away with murder.
