This was just horrible. The way the crime scene was handled there were too many people who didn't need to be there, some of the evidence was tainted or lost. They also had leads, first they thought it was a neighbor, then they thought it was the mother or the father, they didn't question the son he was too young. I think it was someone they knew, an adult, but I don't think it was the parents. Who knows at this point, it's a 14 year old case and just last year they re-opened it.

Someone from outside the family raped and killed her. The cops messed up and the perp got away with it.
I can only speculate. I suspect her mom accidentally killed her. The parents decided to cover it up for the son's sake, so that he would be have a mom and dad at home to raise him. But, I really know nothing-just speculation. Anything is possible.

and her little brother has nothing ; absolutely nothing to do in her death
I've always thought that her older brother killed her in a fit of extreme angst over the attention she got from everyone. It's very difficult being the forgotten, ignored child.
Her mother killed her because she wasn't doing well enough in the beauty contests.
I knew about this tragic case a long time ago but I came across a documentary on YouTube and now it's driving me nuts... I just feel so sorry for the girl.
