No, however many of them were living here at the time. They were hand picked to come to the US by ''Bin Laden'' (The mastermind of the 9/11 terrorist attacks), to do the job of hijacking the passenger planes and using them as human weapons, to crash into the buildings. They were chosen because they had ''some'' experience at living in the West at times. They were also educated and spoke English very well (Not all of them, but most of them spoke good English).They took flying lessons here in the US. They dressed Western, they made themselves look like the rest of us. With the US being so diverse, they fit right in. Most of the 19 hijackers were from Saudi Arabia. I believe a couple were from Afghanistan and Pakistan (Where they set up terrorist training camps, and planned the 9/11 attacks).

They were not US citizens but did have proper paperwork allowing them to live and work in the US.
The fact that many of them were actually on the CIA's watch list, yet the immigration department was not aware of this was one of the failings that led to 9/11.
And a week after 9/11, one of the terrorists received the visa he had applied for a month ago in the mail.

type "Citizenship of 9-11 attackers " into search and you get 214,000,000 hits.
Most of them will say 15 of 19 were Saudi, 4 Yemeni.
