The former Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Timoshenko was convicted of corruption and was in prison until the Yanukovich government was ousted and the self-proclaimed powers took over. They released her and she stood for president in the recent election. Her mantra was "get nukes again and annihilate all Russians and Jews".
The top candidates for President of the Ukraine were far-right nationalist radicals. Poroshenko was the least brutal of the bunch. He only cheered while crazies vandalized the Russian embassy in Kiev and said nothing while the Right Sektor threw Molotov cocktails into a building in Odessa. It was occupied by protesters. The building caught on fire and every one of 46 people were burned to death or beaten if they got out.
They can't be separatists.
Calling them separatists implies that Russia has some sort of right to dominion over Ukraine, as if years of empire give them a right to rule Ukrainians.
The only Separatists in the Ukraine are armed by Russians.
The exiled president stole money from the Ukrainian treasury for his own personal use and he ordered his police officers to open fire on peaceful protesters.
Just because one happens to be a president does not mean they are allowed to steal, kill and in general break the law.
The Ukrainian people have every right to decide for themselves who rules their country.
President Victor Yanokovych was ousted because the huge majority within Ukraine were totally sick of his corruption, and his total oppression of any political opponents.
It is Vladimir Putin who has manipulated the unrest in the south and east of Ukraine, which led to Russia anexing the Crimean peninsular. This was achieved by flooding the russian speaking Ukrainians with massive propaganda, including describing all our western countries as "faschist", yet it is Putin himself who is acting like a Nazi faschist.
This MH17 civilian airplane was shot down by the regular Russian army who operate freely inside east Ukraine. Putin would never allow such a sophisticated weapons system to be used by untrained separatists, because it takes far too long to learn how to operate this properly.
The Putin regime is like a huge mafia, whereby control from above is everything.
There is no political opposition in any country where Putin influence is involved, he obstinately clings onto the idea that Ukraine remains a part of Russia, and he hates the fact that the Ukrainian people can decide for themselves.
Maybe western countries like the US had a hand in this change, but I'm not so sure.
It is the Ukrainians themselves who were sick to death of how Russia meddled so much in their internal affairs. It is they who demonstated in Kiev to end this, and they who voted for a new beginning.

Because their heads are continually bombarded by propaganda from politicians and the media about the Ukraine being some sort of 'democracy' under threat from 'evil Russia' with whom Europe and the U.S. are trying to start a new cold war
Current Ukrainian government is illegitimate and they are the separatists. Why are people oblivious of this?
