Trust me, if they go off, you won't be asleep anymore.
Anyways, you should already know what to do in the event of a tornado. Get into the basement, away from any windows. If you have no basement, get into a closet or bathroom near the center of the house if possible. Cover yourself with a heavy blanket or mattress to protect you from any falling debris.
Fortunately, severe storms tend to burn themselves out very fast so even if there is any danger it'll pass quickly.
Us, too. We had one come through here a couple of nights ago.
Keep your TV on until you hear that there has been a tornado sighted in your area. This is a Tornado Warning. At that point, you should immediately hoof it into a basement and camp out there until the all clear. Take a bottle of water, a flashlight, your cell phone, maybe something to read. We spent an hour in our cellar and I did some cleaning while I was down there.
Do not get into your car and don't go outside to watch the storm. Stay out from under trees and bridges if you get caught outside.
In the future, you might want to buy a battery powered weather radio for emergencies. You can get them at Bed,Bath & Beyond for $20-$60. You can also go online to find lists of things you should keep on hand in case of emergencies.
Listen to the loud noise that towns send off when a tornado is near by run to the basement. Stay away from windows.
-Stay "tuned" to the Weather Channel, & make sure You keep a Mattress by the Bathtub- JUST In Case !! :)
Go below ground and sleep there.
