A union in North America would involve the twenty-two countries of North America. It's not just the states and Canada, but Mexico, Cuba, Jamaica, Costa Rica and others.
It won't happen with Canada you can be sure of that.
Up here we are what the average citizen of the United States would call "Socialists". God forbid they allow that in the Republic.
Aside from that we Canadians wouldn't have it. I don't think the Mexicans would have it either.
I believe that sometime in the future, near or far I'm not sure: but the union of the states are going to fracture into four separate Republics. The economy, the unrest, and a burgeoning national debt is going to lead to a failure of the "United" states. Another civil war that break the country's back this time. Can't say when that's going to happen though, it's a tough call just to speak out loud the disintegration of the United States without a huge outcry.
A North American Union will not fly.
