George Bush suckered the American people into the Iraq war. Most of us felt certain that Iraq had something to do with 9/11. Saddam Hussein was a huge pest to America, and a horrible dictator to his own people. That helped people who were still on the fence to go along with the War in Iraq.
President Lyndon B. Johnson also suckered Americans into war on an outright lie. There was no truth to the story about US ships being attacked in the Gulf of Tonkin. The Gulf of Tonkin story was a government conspiracy to galvanize the American people into ramping up the war in Vietnam.
The Hippie Movement against the War in Vietnam was a protest on many fronts. The draft was taking young men of lower socio-economic status, and there was a disproportionate number of young black men and poor whites being drafted. As you know, George Bush avoided Vietnam altogether.
America has been "dragged into war" by both parties. Long ago, I decided that our 2-party system was a sham. On issues like NAFTA and going to war? They always agree, no matter who the president is.
A good example of this is that John McCain and John Boener agree that we should intervene in Syria.
We could use a few good hippies these days...
I can't believe Obama was reelected for president! I wanted someone more conservative for once like Romney! I hate liberals! Obama doesn't even know what the hell he's doing!
" Ifs "- don't Count. Realities- do. And the "Reality" IS, Obama has NO Interest OR Intention- of "Dragging the US into a war"- with ANY-one. :)
I don't the people are willing to wear it after Iraq (and Libiya)
Obama and Bush are both war loving pukes.
Will we have anti-war marches across the nation with lots of hippees and former black Obama supporters chanting and singing? Or will they just sit this war out and give Obama a free pass?
