Do you have any pets? Cats and dogs will sometimes snatch pieces of cloth. They seem to enjoy the scents that remain.
Once you are sure that it isn't in the garbage? It has to be inside the house. Once you relax and calm your fears? It will likely show up.
By the way... It is impossible to lose the memories that were bound up in that clothing. You don't need the clothing to remember. I used to save things that reminded me of special times. My home started to become a cluttered mess. It was hard, but I finally managed to get rid of all that stuff. Guess what? The memories are still there, and they are just as sweet as they ever were.
When you donate the clothes to charity, take the items out one at a time to see if it's in there. Same with the bin clothes. Failing that, assume you've lost it, mourn for it, and be grateful if it ever turns up again in your life.

The thing I have lost is irreplaceable I had it when I was a baby and it's a tiny tiny piece of clothing that I would have when I was sick because I was in the hospital alot when I was a baby ..
I than got very very upset when I was about 12 - 13 and I would say I was depressed... I always just looked at it and it would make me happy by the memories that I had in it . My mum also cherished it aswell.... I was clearing out my whole wardrobe and I found it because I hadn't seen it in a while and now I have no idea on earth where it is. I have a pile of clothes and stuff that's going to charity and a pile of stuff going in the bin. I've looked through them both and it's not there I don't know where to look because I can't remember what I did with it I know it was always in my room but I'm not sure if I had put it in a bin I'm so scared if I have lost it. No joke please Im very upset...
