In a more civilised age we still dont know. People like me just believe when we die thats the end of everything. Our body either rots in the ground or is Cremated.
The Hindu faith where the body is always burnt have a belief of the after life based on spirits.
Honestly I am terrified of death. The thought of rotting in the ground or being cremated scares the hell out of me. As a result I have become confident that a heaven exists. I like to think that limitless possibilities for happiness can be found there for everyone. It has to be more intriguing than life.
'Is there life after death'? has been a hot topic among Americans since the Republic began. Most folks still hold to the idea the 'Jesus Saves' with an almost equal number who say religion is 'humbug'. So the conclusion to all the debates in America is mostly; Christians say when you die if you know Jesus you live happily ever after in Heaven. An equal number of Americans say this life is the only one you will know.
Well, we'll all find out eventually. Unfortunately no one has yet to come back from beyond to tell the living what happens.
@John: Since Reagan's time? He might have been old, but not THAT old. This question has been around ever since man developed conscious thought, even though he didn't have language to express it.
Burial or cremation.
nobody knows.
