Gun control debate question?

It's not the guns. There are many people who own guns, and they don't kill anybody. There are many people who have prevented violence/deaths by having a gun to stop the criminal. People need to stop blaming law abiding citizens for the criminals actions. Have you ever thought about how that is not right? If you think tyranny could never happen in America... you had better think again. It hasn't happened here because we ''are'' allowed to have something to defend ourselves with. Our forefathers didn't make these rules for no reason. They had lived through a government that dictated them right down to the religion they were allowed to have. We in America are not supposed to fear our government... not for a second... the government is supposed to fear us. Look at the constitution, you'll see what I mean.

Assess the statement?

Sounds like he's Sociopathic.

Children ALWAYS should be put first, it is why he got to be born and raised in the first place.

Not my Constitution though; and it seems to me that all that right does in make it necessary to have much larger armed and police forces and National Guard than the nation would otherwise find necessary. As IF they would actually permit a new Revolution without it turning out like is happening in Syria today!

Yes my right to have a gun is more important that emotional appeals made by authoritarian statists. Here's a tip, more kids will die from swimming pools this year than from guns, but nobody is suggesting new laws or safety regulations to help... why is this? It's because the people who promote gun control have an idea that maybe someday they won't have to play the politics game, maybe someday they'll just be kings, and they aren't worried about you stopping them with your swimming pool.

Not really, the two statements don't go together. He could be saying having a gun would have saved those kids life's. Now if he is really saying yes to that answer. Then yes or he could just be a selfish person you doesn't care about his fellow brother.

I would gladly give up my gun for those kids life back, if it were possible. Anything can go to far, gun rights don't mean you can have anything. A gun for Defense is OK, but weapons of war need to stay in the hands of trained people, police,Military. The local Drug dealer or crazy-man don't obey the laws, so its up to gun makers to set speed limits to save lives, just like car makers had to find safer ways.

it's a false choice, however, it is true that wherever there is liberty a few people will abuse it in some way. it is inevitable that a relatively small number of people will break the law. real americans accept this fact, and consider their liberty, even with the occaisional tragedy, worth far more than false promises of security as disarmed slaves.

Drop the straw argument. If you don't like the second amendment then repeal it. That's what happened to the 16th amendment. Just be honest enough to admit it.

It won't solve the problem if guns are banned. It's who is holding the gun and shooting the gun.

I have a friend who supports the 2nd amendment like no other. He is convinced that he is justified. I am trying to convince him that what he said is crazy here is the conversation:

Me: Is your having a gun more important than the lives of Kindergarteners?

Him: Yes.

Put aside your bias on the topic, is this certifiably crazy of him to think that him being able to have a gun is more important than children's' lives??
