False widow spiders in the UK!?

Posted at: 2015-04-20
We've had them for a while yes. They came to the UK South-side up but they've only recently started to become more of a problem because there is a whole lot of em now.

Yeah you could find them in your house. I've got a few living in my conservatory. I've also been bitten by one. I sleep with the window open so anything can find refuge for the night T.T Woke up with one on my pillow and a painful bite on my cheek. It hurts like a mild wasp sting. I don't think It's as bad as the news makes out though. Only if you have an allergic reaction to them - which.. is the same with any poisonous insencts really.

They arn't very big. Biggest I've seen is like a 20pence? with legs out.

They arn't really a big deal and you shouldn't be worried. It's just somthing else to avoid hehe :)

False black widow spiders are tiny.

They are busy colonising in areas around the UK & have been for quite some time, see first link below.

And I hate to be the bringer of more bad news but we also have Harlequin ladybirds to worry about too.

They're poisonous, excrete toxic chemicals & could cause problems see second link below.

Had them since the 1890 - but apprently due to the warm summers thered more of them. More likely to find them inside during the winter - just do what i do - hoover up all spiders then u have no problem

I don't want to sound mean spirited but here goes, you've been asking this question repeatedly for over a week. I doubt you are going to get any more useful information. In this case you probably are better off with Google!

So I read some news on dailystar's website about these widows appearing in the UK... Haven't we had them for years though? not just recently? What are the chances of finding one in my house? Is there a particular area where they are?

^^Thats something I read, I mean how big are these widows? Could it really do that much damage?

Im pretty shaken up after reading some of the latest news on these spiders :( Any information would be great.
