If they side against the US, with N. Korea. Then it's hell.
China and USA have trade connections, and they would be cut off. Severely effecting the economy of both countries.
Since both USA and China have ties with almost every other country in the world, everyone would be dragged in.

North Korea could potentially do damage to South Korea but the US won't let that happen.
There was potential that since China supported N. Korea and the US supported S. Korea that there would be a conflict between China and the US. But even China is condemning N. Korea's actions right now.
No danger with North Korea, they are just posturing. The most likely cause of nuclear war will be when the United States has to hand over the mantle of biggest world superpower to whoever it may be - China possibly. The British handed it over to the US when their empire ended without any issues but you just know the US will come up with some maniac idea to cling onto it. That will be a sorry day when it comes.

I lived through the cold war (1947-1990) when there was sometimes half a dozen triggers of tension at any one time,Cuba being the most serious.
Compared to that era the world is a peacefull place.

Not anytime soon. North Korea likes to make idle threats and scare people. The first dirty bomb will go off when some Muslim plants it in New York or London.
No, I don't think so. There just aren't sufficient nuclear powers that are suicidal. There ARE some that don't give a damn about human beings, but fortunately, there are only a few.

N. Korea knows full well it is not in their interest to use nukes. It's highly unlikely they would sign their own death warrant.
