Hard to forget a terrorist attack that killed citizens of 90+ nations and changed the world as a result.
Because nothing's been the same since 9/11.
The world's only gotten darker, weirder and - frankly speaking - scarier.
Of course. On a planet with just over 7 billion people, there will be millions who can't even remember what their last meal was, let alone something which happened 13 years ago in a foreign country. Billions of people also live in countries where thousands of people regularly die in disasters/battles which don't even make front page news, so the loss of nearly 3000 people on a single day really is of little significance to the majority of people.
I'm not trying to be provocative or disrespectful, but trying to point out that a single historic event of importance to you and those in your society is unimportant and unremarkable to most of the world's population who regularly deal with far bigger events of more immediate importance to them. You don't remember their disasters, and they don't remember yours.
i think 9/11 commemoration went the same way as international day this year - ie. belated mention never reaching celebrity status in trending.
No --- My gf was driving by the Pentagon when the airliner flew into it.
I remember the panicked phonecall I received from her immediately after it happened .... it is hard to forget.
