Numerous Al Qaeda terrorists that were subsequently captured all said Bin Laden was the primary planner.

I can remember our government releasing ''parts'' of 3 videos, at different times. Bin Laden had these sent to the US... In one of them (a person with an Arab accent was translating in English) he was telling the American people NOT to vote for Bush for a second term. He was warning us that we would suffer more attacks/consequences, if we voted for him in a second term.These videos were released after 9/11. I remember one where Bin Laden was thanking and congratulating the person who delivered him the message, that the 9/11 terrorist attacks had been a success. Bin Laden was smiling. He was saying the attacks were even more successful than he had thought they would be. He was saying Allah Akbar! ''repeatedly''.
Just for the record, his threats had no impact on how we as Americans voted.
There was a video released in December 2001 in which Bin Laden talks about 9/11. Conspiracy theorists for years have claimed the video is a fake. There is a long discussion of it here:

No he did not. He was video taped sitting around talking with his group and expressed surprise that the WTC buildings had collapsed from the impact of the planes. His right hand man was a civil engineer. They didnt expect the building to be as damaged as it was.
