Are Faggots really a special dish in the UK?

I am surprised the (American) asker has been allowed to use that word ? Facebook often blocks it even when its meant in the food sense.

We also call cigarettes "Fags" which have another meaning your side of the pond. Faggots also can mean a bunch of wood sticks.

The Labour party has a shadow minister called "Ed Balls" People love saying that !!

I have heard of Faggots as food, but I live in Lincolnshire where we are famous more for Sausages. I wonder if taking off cuts of meat would be regarded very healthy these days ?

I had never heard of those before. I have heard the word used for cigarettes (fags) and the whole word used historically for a bundle of kindling used to keep homes warm in the middle ages.

Never heard the term as food before. Interesting.

I eat kosher so they would not be my cup of tea anyway.

Another convert. For our ex-colonial cousins, they're like baseball-sized pork meatballs. My local butcher makes proper ones. (The Brains ones are "liver and onion meatballs".) We had them & onion gravy, mashed potato & peas on Monday. Two more are in my freezer.

Yes , they sell them in supermarkets and butchers in the London area

oh yes, when I was a kid ...every Friday we used to have faggots, mushy peas and chips. beautiful. , fantastic memory, thanks a lot.

No/There cigarettes.

I've had some Faggots yesterday for Xmas and I must admit, this is the most delicious dish I've ever had. Anyone else out there think that faggots is the sweetest thing you can eat? I could have me some Faggots every day!!!

Birmingham and the Midlands are considered the home of Faggots in Britain, but with the revival of Faggots, they are now eaten all over the UK.
