Well that's because of YouTube and what Americans have is something called Netflix.
Reality shows are much cheaper to produce, and crap sells.

We cancelled our cable about a year ago. No more endless reality trash. We are more selective about shows, watching a few broadcast shows each week, some things on youtube, and discs loaned to us by a friend.
Because you're apparently choosing to watch crap. There's plenty of quality TV shows these days, you just have to look for them.
you said it!!! turned in my cable boxes on monday because it wasn't worth $80 a month for what was on it. antenna tv, roku, & netflix streaming are a lot cheaper & have what i feel like watching.
It's 2014 and lately all that's on is Keeping up with the kardashians, and so much singing and dancing shows.
