There was a chemical weapons attack, that is not in dispute even by the Syrian government. What is in dispute is who did it? To my mind it makes no sense for Assad to have done it, for what reason having been warned of it being a red line issue that would lead to a Western military reaction, when he was winning the civil war.....why do it? Who does gain from the chemical attack? The rebels. Who carried out the attack, I don't think it was Assad........As for who started the war, the rebels, initially a relatively moderate bunch now consumed by Jihadis and Al Qaida linked groups, the moderates are now the minority within the rebel alliance. Just imagine it, US cruise missiles not targeting Al Qaida but rather targeting those fighting them! It's lunacy.
The 'Arab Spring Movement' (2010-2012) started it.
It was a movement of young people/ university students, much of the small middle class in the Arabic countries to try 'democracy' instead of age old Mideast dictatorship supported by the US Obama Administration and Europe.
But being only 33% of the population they did not have the real support of the Majority and no leadership to put in power once the dictators were gone.
Result....disaster...chaos/ undemocratic factions...armed groups....terrorists....new and worse would be dictators...civil war in Syria....as the old dictator Assad fights the new would be dictators... of Islamic Jihad/ Hamas/ tribes/ factions.
Well, it started with the the overthrow of despicable Ben Ali in Tunisia, then Libya, and went onto Egypt (that went well didn't it?) and finally into Syria...
Personally, after what Blair did with Iraq and the nukes Saddam supposedly had and the sexed up document used in Parliament , I won't believe it's worth getting involved unless I see video evidence of President Assad personally killing women and children with gas or chemical weapons...
it's an age old story . it's sunni muslim vs shia muslim . the rich class repressing the working class .
it's like the same thing happening in america . the zionist agenda of greed of wall street , corporations , and the bankers , are robbing the working man blind .
which country , near syria , with a history of extreme hatred of muslims would sneak in , kill 1,300 people with gas , then make it look like assad did it , just to get the US to finance and fight their war against muslims for them ?

The rebels, the 'arab spring' will not stop till all the countries in the middle east have had a regime change.
The USA and UK and the west who encouraged the rebels to take up arms to overthrow Assad.
They have given the rebels arms and the SAS are in Syria which is a disgraceful admission because we are not supposed to have boots on the ground in Syria.
Now that the rebels are losing they have dreamed up this chemical weapon attack which of course if you see the pictures on tv then you are disgusted by them and of course the natural response is to call for action to be taken against those who used them.
The USA Pentagon has not got a department of propaganda for nothing.
