Russia - have they ever had democratic elections?

What makes you think the recent elections weren't democratic? There were some violations, but I can't say that the result in general would be different.

Also check 'veche' in wikipedia.

A democratic election is not necessarily free and honest.

Under Putin the reporting of election results is in the hands of the government,

rather then an independent electoral commission. Putin's people simply issue

figures that keep him and his allies in office.

Of course, something quite similar happened in Florida during a presidential

election, when the governor of the state was the brother of one of the candidates.

The governor's people did the counting of votes, you know.

Falsifying election results is common. Lyndon Johnson appears to have first

won a seat in the U.S. Senate that way.

(There! I have annoyed both Republicans and Democrats with the truth.)

all the candidates are selected by the party and then elected by votes of the people in Russia

This is socialistic democratic elections

Yes, their last were elections were free.

I Love Russia

I Love Russian people

I like that they gave the capitolists a run for their 'money'

BUT

I Mean This nicely

Russians are Fat Lazy drunks

Fix this and the sky is the limit

Yes they have democratic elections...Russian style.

I doubt it.

Democracy involves a freedom of choice of candidate - how many of us have that ?

Our "Choices" are chosen by others very often

and

some countries have the best democracy money can buy !

Yes, unfortunately though they brought Putin into power, none have happened since then...
