It is a little of both. It is a gift in that is alows us to do more thing in a short amount of time. Thing like travel and collecting information, mass production and guess the weather. But by the same token it has made the human race, as a whole, weaker. Our immune systems are weak because everything is so sterile. Our information is not longer safe. We can chop down entire forests much faster with chain saws and bulldozers then we could with axes and hand saws.
Technology has created many advances in the field of medicine and the way we live but there is always a cost and a downside .
It's just a tool and nothing more.
Like any tool, it can be used for the detriment or benefit of mankind.
It is up to us to use our tools, not just technology, in an ethical, responsible and beneficial manner.
More of a gift than a curse. How often do you use a pay phone ?
It's a gift from man to himself, or at least it's INTENDED as a gift. He just has to learn to USE what he's MADE.
