I know it as the "silly season" but yes you are correct around this time of year when the political people are broken up for the summer one can get a spate of made up stories as the newspapers have little to report on.
I think this is the case if the newspaper is right wing left wing or inbetweenys. I would not reject the Mail story. Its not the !st of April.Their story will have something in it.
Whilst the summer is often referred to as 'silly season' in the media, the Daily Mail tends to be in constant silly season. Stories like this are hardly a rarity, and come as a consequence of reporters scanning the headlines of research and drawing their own conclusions, rather than actually reading the studies, and finding out whether or not the rest of the scientific community agrees. I've seen a number of such reports published, where it's made out like this is a new scientific breakthrough, only for the truth to be that the rest of the scientific community totally disagree with the findings, or the reporters have totally mis-understood what the research is actually saying!
August is the 'dog-days' of summer.
(And no, I don't know what it means, either!)
This year we had the Olympics, so things
weren't so bad.
That's true our family have all had cats, they are theraputic and make you smile, they say smiling is good for you. so therfor i thinks cats are good for you and not bad.
Yes, bit it's almost finished now.
According to the telly , who picked up a story from the right-wing Daily Mail , that Britiain's favourite pet , the cuddly feline , can transfer a virus and a health risk to humans , the 'virus' allegedly can cause mental problems in us. Sounds like a total lot of nonsense to me. Our family has had cats for 'donkey's' years and haven't gone mad.....not yet anyway!!
