People come up with lot of excuses for not wearing helmets like sweating, hearing problem, loss of hair, etc., but the fact remains, they do not want to wear helmets. Also, when people buy bikes costing a huge amount want to economise while buying helmets. More often, people wear helmets only to avoid being stopped by police. One can wear a sweat cap before wearing helmet to prevent excessive sweating. However, as one of our heros rightly said recently: "It is better to be sweating rather than bleeding".
When I smashed my wrist mountain biking ages ago, the hospital were really concerned about helmet wearing, I was wearing one, but unfortunately not on my wrist...
My view is that an adult on a bicycle looks, 'and often is', ridiculous so why not put a helmet on and complete the look.
It does seem a bit ironic. On the one hand the government is expressing grave concern regarding our life and safety-----and, on the other hand, they include in our Obama care insurance handbook---a chapter on how to commit suicide.
