The reason he's saying it might be fine is these values can fluctuate.Could just be a blip.
In pernicious anemia (macrocytic), MCV can range up to 150 femtolitres. An elevated MCV is also associated with alcoholism (as are an elevated GGT and a ratio of AST:ALT of 2:1). Vitamin B12 and/or folic acid deficiency has also been associated with macrocytic anemia (high MCV numbers).
No, but you may need an injection of B vitamins. The lack of urgency from your Dr shows that he thinks you are probably OK.
Yes
Give my regards to the people in heaven.
I very much doubt that anaemia is going to kill you
yes. goodbye
Why is my doctor contradicting himself here?
He said I have a raised mean cell volumne, my red cells bigger than normal range, normal for some people
equally it could be deciffecney of certain vitamins
b12 or folic acid
He says I am not anemic, but it could lead to it.
He said if the levels are normal it's not going to progress, if low and not treated they could progress,
and lead to macrocytic anemia,
He said that I will have to have a retest, and it might show up fine, but if not they will see.
I just found him very vague and he was being sarcastic with me at the end of the phone call. Obviously I have no idea what any of this info means, this is just written down from my conversation with him.
