Billy Miller has broken his silence about his exit from The Young and the Restless. The Emmy-winning actor confirms that his departure was the result of the CBS soap's unwillingness to give him so-called "outs" to pursue projects outside of daytime.
"I was made a generous offer to stay," Miller told Soap Opera Digest in its December 30th edition. "To pass was the hardest thing I’ve ever done. I was caught between a rock and a hard place. In the past, we were able to venture out of the Y&R world; now it seems there is no longer that flexibility for me."
He wanted to venture out and do other things, but I guess the so called "boss"(jp) told him it was either do the soap or turn in your badge and key! Poor Billy, he was really a good actor. I don't understand how that clause works in a contract that doesn't allow you to do other things. I'm pretty sure that it was Eric Braeden in the remake of the Poseiden. If he can do other things than why couldn't Billy Miller? I see other actors in other things all the time, and as long as it doesn't interfere with their time on the soap what is the big deal? Guess jp thought he couldn't walk and chew gum at the same time. Oh well, her loss! She better hope some of the other ones don't follow in his footsteps!
What was said is that Miller wanted to do some extra acting doing other stuff but JFP said no so he was terminated. Seems strange cause the actor who plays Alex is off doing other things.
Because BM wanted to do some acting outside the Soap and JFP said no, She told everyone that everyone has to be on the set daily or else leave or be terminated.
Billy choose to leave.
It was his choice. He wanted to pursue other projects and didn't have time for both so he just said, ok, BYE
I know that other characters have taken time off for the same reason, but with JFP who knows? Really miss BM..
He wanted to do a couple other things that would have conflicted with his time/schedule on the show...they said no, he told them to kick rocks!
He wanted to do other shows while still doing Y & R, and they felt that he could not do both.
