Saw an episode of Voyager where the aliens looked a lot like the Sontarans on Dr. Who.
They're not the same though...just similar looking. Most likely a coincidence.
Star Trek Voyager started in 1993, whereas the Sontarans from Doctor Who first appeared in 1973, so if anything it would have been Star Trek copying. In all honesty, it's probably just a coincidence, though; brown potato head aliens aren't exactly the most unique creatures one can imagine :P
Doctor Who aliens seem to be non intelligent to semi intelligent at best and seem to have almost no human qualities while Star Trek aliens are exactly like humans except that a whole race will have some overwhelming human temperament or personality type. They are more like other human races that just happen to live in space. The Vulcans are logical and analytical. The Klingons are overbearing. I guess in science fiction the less a species looks human the less human it will behave.
I think some shows purposely slip in nods to other shows like this........
Stargate was famous for doing it, and slipping in humorous references to other shows and aliens.....while of course, being about aliens itself.
not just me... so im not crazy!
I believe the aliens (brown potato head type) I have seen in a few Voyager episodes are very close in appearance to the ones I have seen in recent (2013) Dr Who episodes. Although their appearance is similar their personalities seem quite different. Is there anything behind that they look so similar, or just a coincidence?
Thank you for answering.
