I haven't finished classic doctor who so I haven't gotten to Tom Baker yet, but I have watched all of the modern, and let me just say the David Tennant is brilliant. He depicts the Doctor perfectly! After 900 years of life, who wouldn't act like him? He has a time machine and can basically do anything he wants, so why not have some fun? He is also very caring about his companions, and had one of the Doctors first real love interests. He won so many awards for the role, he was officially named the best Doctor ever. Not to mention, he's hot. David is also an extremely good actor, he does lots of Shakespeare. I don't want to say who is better because I haven't gotten to Baker yet, but let me just say that Tennant will forever be my doctor :)
David Tennant is a total stage performer, so his depiction of the Doctor is very dramatic... Tom Baker is a classic though. He balances different aspects of the character very well; but so does David Tennant...
I like David Tennant because he was on TV when I started watching Doctor Who.

David Tennant is the best Doctor Who ever imo, he perfectly depicts a man who has no responsibilities or worries, he IS a time lord. If you had the power to contro time wouldn't you be nonchalant about everything and enjoy every moment?
I think he was as good as Tom. Not better. My two favorites.
