Angel. I prefer how the characters were handled in Angel. Whether you they were a villain or good guy, there seemed to be a logical reason for it. On Buffy it seemed as if the writiers wanted the audience to hate anyone who wasn't a core scoobie. Look at Faith, Wesley, and Kendra (sort of) in Buffy, they were written in a negative way just cause. Faith was there to make Buffy look superior and Wesley was there to make Giles look superior. Now look at Kate or Lilah on Angel, Kate was annoying but can't you understand why, she wasn't used to seeing demons and vampires and her father was killed? Any real human would react the same way. Lilah did what she did because it was her job. The actions of Faith and Wesley were handled pefectly on Angel. Faith finally shows she can do something the right way but look at what happened soon as Faith returned in Buffy season 7, she was right back being second to Buffy. No one really ever seemed second to Angel on his show, which had Illyria and Spike...2 people who could take him.

I like most people preferred Buffy to Angel but Angel was also really good in a different way. Also Angel has a lot to offer to the story line of Buffy so I think they're both worth watching.
Buffy, for sure. I never got into Angel.
I liked Buffy better. Because of Spike. But I thought Angel was darker and more adult. I loved Angel except for season 4. UGH. But season 5 made up for it.
