Doctor Who is great (although it deviates from history a lot and isn't always about history), as well as Reign. Halt and Catch Fire is also pretty good.

Well if you like historical fiction and can get a hold of old episodes there was "The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles" and a time travel show from the early 80s called "Voyagers"

Otherwise may I suggest content from a different medium, a book series called "The Cartoon History of the Universe" by Larry Gonick. Simply the best way to learn history regardless of your age or education level. And funny.

A teenager is capable of watching programmes such as 'The World At War' etc.
