I wondered the same thing.. But I have seen camera footage of her talking to the mayor of London saying that she hopes her bit as the skydiver made people laugh.. She was smiling big when she said that. And I have seen her smile on other occassions.. It may have been just cause it was late and she was tired, but I have speculated that sometimes her stern look may be a show of power and strength... As in some situations, smiling could be portrayed as weakness.
She probably had a migraine . I mean just think of the music she had to listen too,: rock, pop, heavy metal : not her cup of tea probably and it was loud. The poor lady just jumped out of a helicopter for God's sake. Give her a break! She does have a sense of humor and ability to laugh at herself otherwise she would have never done the copter stunt. But just a little smile for the children Queenie? It wouldn't hurt.
I think she really ought to have made the effort to smile, at least when team GB came on, instead she was shown to be picking her nails! I wonder if she's going a bit senile. If she's too tired to participate in such events late at night, then maybe she should consider stepping down.
She 'realised too late' her stunt understudy....'cameo skydiving role was a big mistake' - she seeing herself portrayed as a sky-diver at 80+yrs of age - showing her pink elasticated pantaloons for the whole world to see - big mistake - she lost all her dignity.
How she ever got 'talked into that segment' is absolutely unbelievable - she having a whole night of regret....thats why she wasn't smiling I suspect.
I'm not a royalist - but 'that segment' was embarrassing to watch.....she is (whether people like it or not) the Queen of England.
It 'may' have worked better if ermmm....James Bond had just escorted her (by car) to the stadium....he being 'her' protecting 007 and all that.
So your telling me she was too tired to crack a grin when her countrymen came into stadium representing her country?!?
Too much respect given to queen instead of country. Their national anthem is nothing about the country or people. Just god save the queen,.. yadda yadda yadda.

I think it's strange that the Queen didn't smile once last night. I think it even more strange when you consider this is meant to be "the greatest show on earth". You would think she would of smiled because britain was being represented through danny boyles (rather odd) vision but i guess she don't care ? Even our Queen is depressed about the olympics LOL
