Willis's answer tells the flights. The event seemed familiar in a way as I believe it was the novelist Cussler who wrote a story about a plane taken from Boston with a full load of fuel on board and the hijacker of the plane flew it into the capitol building. East coast flights headed to the west coast were chosen because of their fuel load.
Suspicions about the event still exist...
