France have generated 75% of their energy by Nuclear for the last 25 years. 17% percent of this energy is generated from recycled Nuclear fuel. Nuclear has resultant in a massive reduction in greenhouse gas. If the French were having (or had) issues the Greenies would have certainly let us know!. We should send a team from Australia to see how the French do this so well. BTW Walter Lucas Heights do not generate electricity for the electricity grid.
That depends. What are your short and long term goals?
Nuclear would provide energy with no greenhouse gasses but it produces radioactive waste that must be safely stored..somewhere... for thousands of years. Reactors are also very expensive to build and maintain compared to fossil fuel plants.
Other alternatives could include solar, wind and wave power but none of these can produce the same amount of power as efficiently as nuclear, and they each have their own drawbacks such as solar plants don't work well at night :-)
I don't believe there is a single solution, so nuclear may be part of the solution but maybe along with solar or other forms as well.
Australia has ONE nuclear reactor in Sydney which produces electric power, mostly for internal use. Personally I feel we should NOT use nuclear power but concentrating on SOLAR and WIND energy and other forms of reusable energy.
Nah... With ALL the Great Natural Resources they Have in That Country, I would THINK They could come up with something that's LESS potentially damaging- to the Environment. :)
We've got the uranium and another Chernobyl is unlikely.
