The SEALS were actually instructed to bring him back alive, BUT were also told they could shoot to kill if they felt he was threatening them or the mission.
According to the SEALS, he resisted, so they shot him. Unlike cops, soldiers are taught to shoot to kill.
In some ways, this was the better outcome. If we had captured Bin Laden then we would have been under unending scrutiny for how he was treated. Security would be a nightmare, and any sort of trial would virtually have been impossible. And when he was found guilty, now what? Executing him would have just made him a martyr. And keeping him in prison for the rest of his life would have been ridiculously expensive.
Instead, by shooting him during a military operation, he is not considered a martyr. Al Qaeda is angry that we killed him, but don't seem that upset in the WAY we killed him. Also, we avoided the grueling process of having to put him on trial.
That old bastard and his cronies had killed thousands of Americans and destroyed billions of dollars worth of property on U.S. soil. We chased his ratty old A$$ for several years, costing us millions more dollars and other lives.
When America finally ran him to ground, he got what he deserved. The only thing that would have made it better would be if the SEAL that shot him had said "Greetings from the people of the United States of America" before he double tapped that mangy S.O.B.
Capturing him would have turned him into a cause for even MORE Muslim violence.
OBL was CIA asset most of his life, he was made patsie/fall guy for the Mossad staged event know as 9/11. He has been dead within a year of 9/11 due to natural causes.
Maybe the best people to ask might be the "dancing Israelis" that is the Israelis living in the US on visas as art students who were arrested that day, some dressed as Arabs celebrating across the Hudson, when at that time, only the first plane stuck!
They later were released by Chertoff (a dual Israel-US citizen himself) and said on an Israeli TV chat show that "they were there to document the event".

He was the CIAs most wanted man in the world. they should've killed him after what he did to America.
Osama resisted arrest, when you do that in a military action you get killed. Saddam Hussein was caught in a hole in the ground, he surrendered. When they hanged him the savages didn't know the hangman formula of weight to length of drop and he was decapitated.
Totally disagree, he did not deserve the rights, options, and/or opportunities that he did not give to his victims.....
Agree.
But honestly, they were always going to kill him. that was the aim. He knows too much (previously being in the pay of the CIA and fighting for america by proxy and all). Good terrorist gone bad.
Disagree, I think it would be very doubtful that the bastard would have cooperated and would have let us interrogate him.
US should kill all Muslims who who hid Osama and lied while collecting billions of US dollars.
I disagree.
How do you feel about this state? Agree or Disagree?
Killed. The USA does not negociate with terrorists.
I don't care, he was a mass murder
