the direct thing, it's a stupid concept, a special number for emergencies of a lesser scale than 999 emergencies.. what?
I used it twice and both times were a fiasco!
The first time they tried everything to try and persuade me to go to hospital with what was a very minor injury.
The second time was for an elderly relative. They told me that it wasn't a problem that A&E should deal with and that I had to arrange a District Nurse. I was to ring up and leave a message, but they gave me contact numbers that were wrong, and 4 hours later he was still waiting.......
Yes they are useful, for instance I had someone take an incorrect dosage of something and was unsure if they would be safe or not, fortunately they were OK to have an incorrect dosage now and again ... but had it not been for NHS direct I would have had to drag that person to hospital at 2am.
I too have used this service and I think everyone that has used this service should add a comment too. :-) may be words can speak louder :-)
in the few times ive used the service i thought it was a great little service, i saw it has essential for nhs users really .. and for them now to take it away ?
does anyone else see it as a further undermining of our services in this country ?
