I think it's boring to some people because tennis matches have a requirement of near silence - no cheering crowds, screaming commentators, etc, and the ball can go back & forth repeatedly without a point being made until you blink once, & it's over. (Some people say that about baseball, too - balls, strikes, walks - then go to the bathroom & you miss the best home run ever)
If a person has never tried to play tennis, too, the amazing shots can seem to be no big deal. Same with golf, IMO, which I find incredibly boring - silent crowd, lengthy time to set up swings, etc. At least with tennis, you can see & appreciate the amazing muscle tone, agility, and moves of the players. Golfers - heck, slacks & polo shirts, & some really dumb looking hats sometimes.
Because watching is not the same as playing. You obviously haven't seen the Tiddly Winks championships.

Tennis is sport, sport is exciting ergo tennis is exciting. If you don't like sport then go and do some baking.
I think you need to understand the way it works to be interested to be honest. I haven't watched much this year - haven't for years to be honest, but I was junior County Champion years ago and knowing the way the scoring works etc, certainly makes it more interesting.
Back and toward back and forward back an forward. It is very repetitive . Although even I have to admit I enjoyed the final today. It also is a drag and seems to go on forever...
