Which Star Trek series should I watch first?

Do you think that if I start with the original, it'll be boring for me?

and it probably has 100+ episodes, right?

I'll get trashed for this by the true trekkies but I doubt that most viewers under the age of 50 will appreciate the original series if viewing it for the first time. It was a groundbreaking series and way ahead of its time but by today's standards, it is pretty outdated.

All of the other series would be acceptable to most viewers although much of the tech in The Next Generation might be hard to accept.

Deep Space Nine is great if you are into a lot of fighting with aliens. It was my least favorite series for that reason because I'm more into exploring the galaxy stuff but each to his or her own.

Voyager is still very up to date technically and returns to the exploration theme I like best. The only people I've heard say they didn't like it were guys who were stuck back in the 1950s and couldn't accept a woman as a strong star ship Captain. This was my favorite series.

Enterprise was ok, especially at first but it got a bit weird for me later in the series.

Anyway, I'd say that you could watch any of them in any order. It's not all that important what order you watch them in. Maybe watch the pilot episode of each and then decide?

The original has 79 episodes I think. It ran on NBC from 1966-69. The special effects may not be up to par with today's standards. And sometimes it may seem a little melodramatic. Try not to judge the whole series by a few episodes you might not like. Some of the best are Space Seed, The City on the Edge of Forever, The Trouble with Tribbles, All Our Yesterdays.

If you think it might be boring, start with Next Generation.
