What's up with bronies? hmm?

I have nothing against bronies, it's the ones that make non con pony p'rn that creep me out! Everyone likes different shows, though it's just what they like!

Brony here! What Master Chief said pretty much sums it up. I'll be the first to admit it's not for everyone, and I thank you for even taking the initiative to watch the documentary and give it a shot as that's more than most would do.mTo be fair, when I first became a brony and watched the first episode, I physically cringed and thought to myself 'WTF am I making myself watch?', but several episodes in I was hooked. Plus, it's the pilot. Pilots are always less than spectacular because they have to get all that exposition and introduction stuff out of the way with typically smaller budget. Almost no brony says the pilot episodes are their favorite. Just some things to keep in mind. :)

There's three main reasons I think bronies like MLP. The first is the show staff that have a ton of experience in the cartoons of the 90s and early 00s, shows that many bronies grew up on as most of us are high school and college age. So not only is it nostalgic, it has a lot of talent that appeals to those who already are fans of animation and cartoons, which many bronies are. Here's a chart of some of the talented people working on the show:

I know what you mean.

I have also seen a few episodes of the show. It was way too happy and childish for my taste.

When I set there I was like "this is what grown up adults watch now?".

So I would say if you enjoy this show, you're probably looking for something better in life, with hopes and dreams about peace and love. Pretty pathetic.

I'm glad people find something to enjoy and socialize about.

But this isn't really anything different than a religion though.

Naive dreams and hopes about peace and forever happiness, without realizing that happiness comes with pain. If you never feel down and if you never have a bad moment every once in awhile, you won't be able to appreciate the good times.

Instead, every moment of your life will feel boring and dry.

And instead of appreciating the good times, you will take them for granted and become egotistical.

That is why life is about ups and downs, mistakes and flaws you will grow, develop and learn from.

That's what makes a rich and meaningful life. Not everyday sunshine with hopes and dreams about a better life.

In other words, I don't think people (especially kids) should be watching these type of shows.

My Little Pony gives a very brainwashed image of how the world works. And if you start hoping for a better world, you will end up disliking the real world.

Same with overprotective parents, censorship and so on. Instead of showing their kid how the world works and how to appreciate it, they try to show them a world that doesn't exist. A sugarcoated world. The world they wish they could live in. It's pretty egotistical really.

Sorry about the long rant. I felt like ranting :)

as a brony, i personally love the show, i can, however, understand why some wouldnt like it, and thats ok, were all different people with different opinions, i understand that you think differently than me about and im completely cool with that. now, if you were to go out of your way just to hate on us, that wouldnt be ok, but im gonna assume you dont, based on the fact that you were polite and respectful about your negative view of the show, i really love it and its a big part of my life but, again, i can completely see why someone wouldnt lie it, to answer your question more directly, there are currently 4 "generations" of the show, most of us bronies dont like the first 3 gens, its the 4th one we like, the one lauren faust had a lot to do with, she liked the older gens as a kid but wanted to move away from the girly and childish stereotypes that usually came with shows meant for little girls by making it more appealing to the little girls and their parents so that, while stuck watching it with their daughters, the parents didnt wanna blow their brains out out of boredom, her methods just happened to be a bit more effective than expected is all

Older guys/men who likes "my little pony..."?!.

okok, so I always have an open mind whatever the deal is about. I watched this documentary about bronies etc without ever watching one episode.. so I was gonna have an open mind in general, eventhough it was a bit strange I had to admit.

So I sat down to watch the first episode of My little pony- friendship is magic, and HONESTLY! It was pathetic. Clearly made for little girls who likes magic and ponies and all that crap. Nothing special about it at all compared to other little girls cartoon shows. I don't see how this can be for older men in their 20 + to watch?
