I was 9 at the time so I was in school when everything started happening. And I was only about a half hour from Washington DC. Teachers started panicking, but still trying to hide it from all the kids. We all saw them whispering to each other and looking upset, and wondered what was going on. A lot of kids got to go home early because their parents came to pick them up. But for those of us that stayed the rest of the day (my parents didn't come get me because they thought I was safer in the school than I would have been anywhere else) they wouldn't tell us anything about what happened. So I didn't find out until I got home that afternoon. I got off the bus and went into my house and found my parents in front of the TV so I saw everything and my mom told me what was going on. Such a sad and frightening day.
I stared at the TV in horror. I was on my own and it was just dumbfounding.

Where were you and what happened when you found out about two planes crashing into the twin towers? An example story (someone told me this earlier) : I was at college when an announcement said "Our Nation is under attack." Take shelter or go somewhere safe."
