The old people (58 to105 years) around you lived with the daily threat of nuclear war with Russia (Part of the old USSR) during the cold war.
Putin is an old cold war KGB guy that hates the United States as deeply as anyone can...even as deeply as an adherent to Black Liberation Theology.
Obama could easily piss off Putin...he's already pissed off at the United States.
As for nuclear war Putin loves Russia and is certainly corrupt enough to use the episode to increase the income to Russia and the sales of its war materiel's worldwide.
Putin has announced that he wants Russia to become the number one provider of war materiel. Currently the United States holds the honor. The United States out produces Russia by producing three times the amount of income and munitions sold.
Obama has talked about his desire to become less of a waring nation. Obama's religion is Black Liberation Theology. Black Liberation Theology exalts the black race, scapegoats the white race and worships their leaders as messiahs or gods. Farrakhan publicly declared Obama by name to be a black messiah, who in the End Times scenario of Black Liberation Theology will destroy the white race and America.
Putin may be pissed but he knows that Obama has the same end game goal as he, the destruction of the United States. As a result Putin will NOT push the button.
No, it's not. The closest the US and Russia (then, the USSR) came to nuclear war was during the Cuban Missile Crisis.
Believe me, we're no where close to that sort of situation.
Nowadays, no sane country would dare to use a nuclear weapon. Ignoring the ecological damage from the radioactive fallout, the diplomatic fallout would essentially isolate the country for years, perhaps decades. No country will risk that.

The leaders of neither country are stupid enough to start a nuclear war because it would mean the destruction of both countries.
